I
feel the materials used to create a bear are as
important as its overall design . I've spent considerable time tracking down supplies from around the world so that the bears I
make are of the highest quality.
 I
use high quality "Shulte" mohair for the majority of
my bears which I import directly from Germany.
My
crushed velvet bears use "vintage" material that's usually
over 30 years old. My
mini-bear "cashmere" f abrics
are
hand
dyed
and come from the United States.
I
enjoy creating bears using traditional materials and
techniques where possible; for example using cotter
pin joints,
original wired glass or authentic Victorian boot
button eyes.
 To
give my bears extra huggable weight I'll add a range
of fills such as steel shot and bead. I also
use traditional materials such as Kapok alongside
the more modern polyester fibre fillings.
Finally
I love adding detailing to my bears
such as shading, waxed or leather noses or appliqué
paw pads.
